Our Process

At Green Tree Plastics, Inc , we use a unique process to manufacture products. The process we use is called flow-molding , through which we ‘up-cycle' plastics that are discarded by consumers and other manufacturers. We receive, sort, shred, grind, blend, mold, finish and then ship. Our products are not vacuum formed, nor injection molded. They are cast into molds very much like a foundry would cast metal. The fact that our raw materials are relatively cheap, allows us to hand craft our products one part at a time. Our “batch” blend system and individual molds give us the ability to manufacture short-run products. We have created many specialized molds, check out our “custom” section, and would like the opportunity to help you consider our green process as a solution to your material challenge.

Our plastic products are manufactured from remolded thermoplastics. To obtain color and other desirable physical and processing properties, we incorporate various additives and pigments into the blend. To further enhance a particular product's physical characteristics, impact modifiers, reinforcing agents and compatibilizers may also be added. These additives are also discarded by other manufacturers. Ultraviolet stabilizers are incorporated where necessary to insure and enhance the long life characteristic of the color and plastics used. The final product is called CASTplastic™ .

Another unique feature to our CASTplastic™ is the ability of the material to conform to virtually any surface. Over time, a table or bench that is sitting on ground that is uneven will eventually mold itself to that surface. Occasionally, the surface of our products will have a rich variety of color chips visible. These chips are pieces of plastic that are the same chemically as the rest of the product but have a different state of viscosity when they melt (Melt Flow Index). We think this diversity of surface texture is attractive but if you need a more “plastic” look to your project please let us know.
